Application
1-phase Coupling/decoupling networks for EFT/burst and Surge
The single phase coupling/decoupling networks of the CNI 501x-series are used to
couple EFT/Burst pulses and Surge pulses on to AC and/or DC supply lines.
Within the range of EM TEST coupling/decoupling networks we offer different models
for test voltages from 5kV up to 10kV with DUT currents of 16A, 32A, 63A and 100A
(higher current ratings on request) for the various test requirements and equipment
configuration.
Benefits
All EM TEST CDN's are manufactured by Lüthi
The CNI 501x-series coupling/decoupling networks are built fully complying to the
standard requirements of EN/IEC 61000-4-4 and EN/IEC 61000-4-5. Residual voltage
levels are carefully considered as well as the value of the decoupling inductors
in order to meet the requirements with regard to voltage drop at the rated current
of each type of CDN. Apart from the coverage of the EN/IEC 61000-4-5 standard the
CNI 501Bx series also fully complies with the surge test requirements outlined in
ANSI/IEEE C62.41.
Being fully controlled by the related generators couplings of the CNI 501x-series
are set automatically as selected for the test (either by manual operation or via
software). When performing surge tests the generators will automatically set the
required source impedance depending on the standard and the coupling mode.

Application
Coupling/Decoupling networks for testing measuring relays and protection equipment
The CNV 508N4 series are special coupling/decoupling networks being used to perform
"Electrical disturbance tests for measuring relays and protection equipment" in
accordance to IEC 60255-22-1. A capacitance of 0.5uF is specified to couple the
pulses on to the lines.
Each line has a decoupling inductor of >1.5mH to protect the auxiliary equipment
from being subjected to the test pulse. The disturbance signal used for this test
is a damped oscillatory pulse with a frequency of 1MHz, generated by the EM TEST
OCS 500N6.
Benefits
Fully-automatic coupling networks for IEC 60255-22-1
Depending on the configuration of the DUT several different test set-up's are used
to perform tests in differential mode (line-to-line of the same pair) or common
mode (each pair to ground or one pair to all other pairs with these being grounded).
The CNV 508N4 is automatically set by the OCS 500N6 selecting the desired coupling
mode and lines to be coupled. The coupler offers capability to test up to 4 pairs/8
lines.
The test of measuring relays and protection equipment as outlined in IEC 60255-22-1
includes different coupling modes to test the DUT under different conditions. Each
pair of lines is tested individually in differential mode. Common mode test is applied
to each pair to ground and to each pair with the other pairs connected to ground.
The EM TEST CNV 508N4 series are a dedicated CDNs for these applications, fully
automatic, remote controlled by the OCS 500N6 for the various coupling modes. This
offers best user convenience and reliability that all couplings required are tested
sequently. The selected coupling mode and lines actually being tested are indicated
by LEDs.

Application
CNV 504N/508N - Coupling decoupling networks for signal/data lines
Surge pulses or Ringwave pulses are applied to unshielded unsymmetrical interconnection
lines (signal/data lines) by means of standalone coupling/decoupling networks. For
such testing EM TEST offers a range of CNVs for either 4 or 8 signal/data lines.
According to EN/IEC 61000-4-5 resp. EN/IEC 61000-4-12 the pulses are coupled via
different coupling elements such as capacitors, gas arrestors or diodes depending
on the characteristics of the line signals.
Benefits
CNV 504N/508N series - Multifunctional coupling/decoupling networks
The EM TEST CNV 504N/508N series of coupling decoupling networks are multifunctional
CNVs for the application of Surge and Ringwave pulses onto signal/data lines.
The standard CNV 504N/508N models combine three different applications; coupling
of Surge pulse via capacitor or gas arrestor and coupling of Ringwave pulses via
capacitor being required by the relevant standards. The required coupling mode can
easily be selected by means of a simple jumper.
The CNVs also include the required decoupling part consisting of decoupling inductors
of 20mH for each line. To protect the auxiliary equipment being needed for testing
the DUT an additional protection circuit is integrated at the signal/data line input.
EM TEST offers CNV 504N/CNV 508N coupling/decoupling networks for various test voltages
up to 10kV and for higher signal voltages/currents (up to 600V and up to 4A). Dedicated
CNVs are available e.g. for railway applications as per EN 50155 and for other customer
specific test applications.
