CH1-76A - Passive Hydrogen Maser
Passive Hydrogen Masers are the 2nd most stable time &
frequency standards available. They represent exceptional performance/cost benefit
when compared to Ceasium. The PHM does not have a wear-out, throw-away physics package
failure mechanism. The PHM is 10 to 100 x more stable. PHM replacement parts after
long working life cost 5...10% of a Cs tube.
Features
- 5MHz (10MHz option) sine outputs. 1Hz Pulse output.
|
The Passive Hydrogen Maser is designed to operate as a high-stability frequency
source with precise, spectrally pure 5 MHz output. Its principle of operation is
based on hydrogen atom emission, but hydrogen atoms emit only by the action of an
external signal from a crystal oscillator. The quantum device is used as a frequency
discriminator in an automatic frequency tuning system of a crystal oscillator.

CH1-75A - Active Hydrogen Maser
Active Hydrogen Masers are the most stable frequency &time
standards available. Kvarz have the longest history of H Maser development, some
50 years, owning the core IPR & design rights. Quartzlock have been associated
with Kvarz for some 20 years building H Maser compatible instruments.
The CH1-75A Active Hydrogen Maser uses CAT Cavity Auto-Tuning
technology with outstanding specification improvements in the most important parameters
of Stability AVAR, Drift, Phase Noise & Tempco.
|
The Active Hydrogen Maser technology provides the best known frequency stability
for a frequency generator commercially available today. Active masers will be used
when the best stability is needed in a time domain of 1 sec. to a day. At a 1-hour
averaging time, the Active Maser exceeds the stability of the best known cesium
oscillators by a factor of at least 100. Unlike cesium oscillators, Hydrogen Masers
have no physics wear-out mechanism. They have the inherent ability to operate for
10 years, although failures earlier than 10 years can be attributed to ion pumps,
the dissociator, and the hydrogen source. Even if such maintenance is needed, the
costs will be a factor of 10 less than the cesium beam tube replacement, which will
occur in the five to ten years life of the equipment.
